Greetings to you all!
May all the joy of celebrating Christ’s birth continue to bless you and your loved ones in these coming days.
We welcome you all back to Cafe Liberty on Sunday, Dec 28th in the half hour prior to our 10:15 AM Worship
Each of those who join us in expressing the open arms of fellowship to guests, visitors and friends play such a vital role.
We all know it can feel like a very cold world out there! The presence of interested, engaged, caring friends at church is a true treasure.
Many of you are “investors” in that treasure. Thank you!
In this last weekend of 2025, we also want to express how grateful we are for all who dedicate time, energy and talent in these areas of ministry:
-
Worship Team musicians and Media Team members
-
Kids Ministry Team leaders and all who teach and/or assist
-
Cafe Liberty Team ~ all who have made it so welcoming this year and our new Cafe Liberty Team volunteers!
-
Ladies Ministry Leaders
-
Faith Quest Leaders
-
Multiple volunteers who made special projects so successful this year
-
Deacons taking on multiple tasks ~ from security details to technical improvements and odd jobs
-
Elders whose dedication, care, counsel, prayer and encouragement blesses each of these ministries
All of the above are expressions of a deeper truth that we cherish at Liberty Church: It is giving for the glory of God. It’s exactly what Jesus expressed when he first dispatched disciples who were learning to trust Him as they served. He said simply: “Freely you have received. Freely give.”
And off they went! Two-by-two the disciples learned by doing. They must have all felt so “green” at this thing called “ministry”. So, in the power of Christ’s promise, they took on those new tasks. The single most important requirement for each of them was action (in obedience to the words of Jesus).
We see the same principle reflected in the 5th and final Advent candle of this beautiful season.
Taking action for the Magi meant an incredibly long journey with hardships we can scarcely imagine. Yet they were giving for the glory of God. With hearts full of anticipation and camels laden with treasures, the Magi moved in sync with that phenomenal star. Their venture into the vast unknown sets a powerful example of faith-in-action. In their own unique way, the “Magi from the East” showed the best kind of motivation: Taking action in order to give their very best.
With new challenges ahead for each of us in 2026, that Magi example is as potent as it’s ever been. Their motivation arose from a sense of the honor due to the Messiah they had not yet met! In that sense, as followers of Jesus, we have an even higher honor: to bring our best to the One who has already named us and claimed us for His Kingdom!
That puts a lot of ordinary tasks into an extraordinary light. Small acts of service matter – in fact, none of them are ever really “small”!
What new action steps will you need to take in 2026 for the goals God has placed in your heart? That’s a question worth considering in this concluding weekend of 2025. May the grace and guidance of the Holy Spirit empower you for the goals that are closest to your heart.

“Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim you,
Who walk in the light of your presence, LORD.
They rejoice in your name all day long;
They celebrate your righteousness for you are their glory and their strength!”
(Psalm 89:15-17a NIV)
In Christ,
Pastor Joe
