Greetings to you all
Many of us think of a mom’s work as the ultimate example of multi-tasking. It certainly is, and that is only one of many reasons why the original idea of Mother’s Day is still super-charged with gratitude and joy for me. I love what we get to do on Mother’s Day, even though it seems so small compared to the value and influence of so many wise women.
It’s a rich opportunity for kids and their dads to bring fun-loving, heartfelt expression to the honor that love places deeply in their hearts. A vivid example of why verbal appreciation matters so much is part of that ancient poem about the ultimate multi-tasking mom:
“Her children arise and call her blessed,
her husband also and he praises her.”
(Proverbs 31:28 NIV)
Like millions of moms who followed her, that virtuous woman took on the most urgent tasks of any occupation in the world. The value she placed on each of her children, and the well-being of her family is more than inspiration. It’s an illustration of how uniquely each mom’s personality enriches her loved ones.
As women juggle competing demands on their time, their instinctive understanding of what sons and daughters need is truly amazing. Moms aim for sons and daughters to be spiritually nourished, mentally sharp, socially well-adjusted, academically prepared and physically healthy. And, of course, the list goes on…and on!
Many of us have moms who are already in heaven. For those unforgettable women and the impact of their faith, we praise God.
But for all the moms today, in all the unique ways you enrich your loved ones and express your gifts from God, we are thankful.
We love seeing each of you in action and hope this brief weekend is a reminder of how deeply you are loved.
Adopted moms, foster moms and others had to cross even more barriers to connect with the children and teens they love. Their passion and tenacity in the path of becoming mothers, against great odds, is a powerful reminder of the value God places on each child’s life.
Happy Mom’s Day weekend to all families and friends.
Join us tomorrow for our greetings and coffee connection in the half hour prior to 10:15 AM worship.

Hundreds of meals are served in that kitchen as students, staff, guests and families find the faith-empowering grace of God leading young people into great learning and practical training opportunities for their future endeavors.
