Greetings to you all

Congratulations on your hope!”

A customary greeting to women during pregnancy in France many years ago was this celebration of a mother’s “hope”. Hearing it again recently reminded me of the powerful promise in Colossians 1:5 where our eternal treasures in Christ are described as “the hope which is laid up for you in heaven.”

Each use of the word “hope” in the Epistles of the New Testament refers to the certainty of an unseen treasure. It’s a synonym for rock solid assurance.
There is a purifying “hope”, according to I John 3:3, a “blessed hope” according to Titus 2:13 and a fearless hope according to Romans 5:5. Hope is so important that the Apostle Paul compares it to a “helmet”, a vital piece of equipment in many types of sports as well as in military combat.
Hope is also called an “anchor” in Hebrews 6:19. Just as an anchor quietly fulfills its purpose only when it is unseen (underwater), even so, the hope we have in Jesus Christ is quietly available to us, exactly when and where we need it.
Each day we meet people facing struggles, hurts, heartaches and disappointments. Many feel hope-less against the despair that creeps in.
This is why Scripture paints such a clear portrait of real hope. His hope is flawless when all other hopes have failed.
It’s so much more than a dream or a wish. Ours is a living hope, because He lives!  In prayer, praise, worship and daily conversations, we can bring the jagged edges of this broken world to the feet of our risen Savior.
Rejoice in His hope today! It’s part of the eternal inheritance the Lord gives us in Kingdom life. Pray it for others. Savor it and share it.
