Greetings to you all

We would love for you to join us this Sunday! Our Cafe Liberty welcoming time in the half hour prior to 10:15 AM Worship is provided by gracious volunteers who delight us with their snacks, surprises and smiles!
We love these gatherings as a starting point for a higher goal – communicating to every worshiper how valuable his or her gifts are within this congregation.
We explore the Gospel not only because it is God’s living Word but because it refreshes us deeply in every arena of challenge and difficulty in life. That theme of “refreshing” has been much on my heart as I pray for all who serve the Lord here – and whose loving service in this church impacts others around us.
Many promises of God speak of the refreshing that comes in the presence of the Holy Spirit.  Scripture brings us the imagery of a vast waterfall – a pure outpouring of pristine, crystal-clear water rushing through the parched deserts of a dying world, bringing the dynamic power of God’s presence into immediate contact with hurting people.
Such scenery appears, for example, in Isaiah 44:3 where the LORD says:
“I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground;
I will pour out my Spirit on your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants.”
One of the most sweltering summer seasons I remember was a time of travel in the Orlando area in late June while in a traveling singing group. We were staying, camp-style, in a vacant house in the middle of an orange grove near Bradenton Florida. One of our evening concerts was on a Friday night in a bank building in Orlando where the air conditioning system had failed. Setting up sound equipment and instruments on the 5th floor for a Christian Business Leaders event in 95-degree weather made that evening concert…well, shall we say, “memorable”!
Had we been anywhere near a waterfall, a swimming pool or a fountain all of us would surely have plunged in, to cool off and get soaked! The humidity was intense and, other than drinking lots of water, there was nothing else to do but to “sweat it out” as they say and return to our no-frills borrowed outpost to get to sleep.
But what I remember most about that blazing hot night in Orlando is what the Holy Spirit taught me. In His presence, yes even in those temps, we had all been refreshed in the Spirit. It was a great evening of worship in spite of the inconveniences. Isaiah 44:3 became vividly clear. God has not left His redeemed people in the “humidity” of a soul-exhausting world. His promise in the Holy Spirit is for a continuous source of refreshing – abundance of water! His “outpouring”, predicted in Isaiah 44 and fulfilled by Jesus in John 7:37, is a vast powerful surge of pristine, crystal-clear water for our souls.
Even more amazing is how simply Jesus offers it to each of us. The Creator of H2O sends His very best to us, freely, fully and faithfully. Only one requirement is listed in John 7:37 “If anyone is thirsty….”
For each of you in this busy summer, we pray for an abundance of refreshing, in the Holy Spirit’s power at YOUR precise point of need.

Events to enjoy and share

“He who made Pleiades and Orion, who turns midnight
into dawn and darkness into night, who calls for the waters of the sea
and pours them out over the face of the land – the LORD is his name.

The name of the LORD is a strong and mighty tower;
The righteous run to it and are safe
(Amos 5:8 and Proverbs 18:10 NIV)
