Welcome to worship on Sunday, March 8th!
We look forward to seeing you and welcoming any guests you bring to share in worship and fellowship here. We know that worshipers come with many needs and concerns. It’s our goal for all members and guests to know that the welcome is more than a word; it’s a way of life. You’re among friends!
Events of the past week certainly put a renewed spotlight on the urgent instructions Jesus gave his disciples in Mark 13:37:
“What I say to you, I say to everyone: ‘Keep watch!'”
A close companion principle Jesus gave his disciples in the Garden of Gethsemane was to
“Watch and pray…”
(Matthew 26:41a)
With so many rapid changes taking place in the Middle East, praying believers know instinctively that this is a time of both peril and promise.
It’s a promising time of hope for millions of people who may find lasting freedom from oppression. However, the hazards that are part of such a massive military operation are obviously a huge concern for all of us.
Alert believers across the USA and throughout the world are praying for the success and protection of those who serve in the U.S. Armed Forces and for God’s Word to reach the hearts of millions throughout the region. With so much potential good for so many millions of people, the hazards are also huge, including the collateral damage that can come to those in harm’s way, this critical time of potentially seeing lasting freedom for the Iranian people, is also a reminder to pray for the advance of the Gospel in all the nations of the Persian Gulf region.
We can embrace anew in these prayers the principle that the Apostle Paul explained about his own mission, when he told Timothy “I am suffering even to the point of being chained like a criminal. But God’s Word is not chained.” To apply that to this vast new opportunity for the liberating of the Iranian people, we can be sure (for Iran and many neighboring countries) that God’s Word is indeed their greatest need. Though various cultures, religious traditions and oppressive dictatorships loom large as obstacles, we can rejoice in the reality that God’s Word is not chained. Many hearts will be awakened to the Lordship of Jesus Christ in ways that pierce through the oppressive power of rulers who seek to lock their citizens down behind walls of propaganda.
These are phenomenal times of change, including the controversies and conflicts that are so vexing within the American culture. Naturally, we wonder what steps each of us should when faced with so many conflicting voices and sources of information.
The best of all starting points for any follower of Jesus is to read the Gospels, especially in these four weeks prior to Good Friday and Easter and remember each step of the way that Jesus is calling each of us to “Watch and pray!”

“From the west they acclaim the LORD’s majesty.
Therefore in the east, give glory to the LORD;
Exalt the name of the LORD, the God of Israel, in the islands of the sea.
From the ends of the earth we hear singing: ‘Glory to the Righteous One.'”
(Isaiah 24:14b-16a NIV)
In his love,
Pastor Joe
