Greetings to you all

In the 1st Sunday of Advent, a fresh focus on hope is the highlight of the Prophets Candle.  A vast cast of characters in Old Testament settings set the stage for the story we celebrate in Christmas. Gospel writers stood on the prophets’ shoulders, giving us glimpses of God’s glory in so many ways:
  1. An aging priest and his barren wife suddenly learn that they will become parents of a prophetic “forerunner” of God’s promised King
  2. A carpenter’s dream signals the start of an odyssey that leads, step-by-step to the birth of God’s Promised King in Bethlehem
  3. Angels arrayed in splendor awaken common shepherds to a task that sent them speedily into action, seeing and serving that infant King.
And….so much more! Prophecy served a purpose that is often overlooked today. Prophecy, was like the brass section in God’s orchestra, bringing a symphony of good news to the world. A trumpet of truth sounded in those ancient promises of Bethlehem’s brightest morning. We can hear the trumpet today with even greater gratitude. For each note of anticipation in Scripture focuses on a single Person. Jesus our Redeemer is the center of Christmas and indeed, the reason for the season.

An Operation Christmas Child update: We’re so grateful for all the ways volunteers stepped in to serve in the OCC drop-off week. There were 2822 shoeboxes received and packed for passage to the Distribution center in a total of 188 shipping cartons! So many blessings flow through this kind of giving. Praise God for all the lives who will be touched as children around the world receive ministry, care, supplies and surprises in the shoeboxes.
Many thanks…volunteers in action

We deeply appreciate the teamwork and hours of time a team of volunteers gave to removing, cleaning, storing and organizing window A/C’s the winter season. A mission-accomplished note on my desk last Friday morning made my day. Many thanks to you all: Mark and Dawn Purtell and grandson, Devan, Jonathan Nusbaum, Matt McGinnis and Brian Mobley.
