Greetings to you all
A vital part of our goal for congregational life is for worshipers of all ages to find a meaningful heartfelt connection with other believers in which they “spur one another on to love and good deeds.” (Hebrews 10:24)
So often, the “good deeds” that matter most seem small and insignificant.
Just like the seeds Jesus spoke about in his parables about gardens and farms, “good deeds” can be of many types. They include taking time to listen as well as to serve. Solving problems, helping a neighbor in need, making repairs, running errands, doing chores, bringing groceries or volunteering in a ministry that needs more support – all of these “deeds” are “seeds”!
A neat song recorded by a vocalist named Anniebelle Hall captured this so well.
“What you have may not seem much
But when you yield it to the touch
Of the Master’s loving hands, then you’ll understand
And your life will never be the same.
Ordinary people – God uses ordinary people.
He uses people who are willing to do as He commands.
God uses people who will give Him all – no matter how small your “all” may seem to you
For little becomes much when you place it in the Master’s hands.”

The multiplier effect of simple acts of faith is one of the awesome discoveries God gives us as followers of Jesus. What an honor to serve together under “the Master’s loving hands”!

For God, who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness’,
made his light shine in our hearts
to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory
in the face of Jesus Christ.
But we have this treasure in jars of clay
to show that the all-surpassing power is from God
and not from us.
(II Corinthians 4:7 NIV)
