Greetings Liberty family & friends

It’s hot! I hope you’re in a cool place to read this!
I want to welcome you to worship on July 6th and ask your help in lining up volunteers to work alongside Rob Moretz, as he leads the Annual Church Picnic planning for August 24th.
As Rob shared this past Sunday morning, we’re looking for several people to team up in planning a superb celebration of outdoor fun with a water slide, outdoor games, great food and fellowship.
As always in these events, Liberty Church provides the burgers, hot dogs and other meat, rolls, plastic and paper products and condiments for the cookout. Members and friends sign up to bring a couple salads, sides, desserts etc.
And now, also…..a word about Independence Day in the USA

This is a good day to reflect on the treasure we have in this amazing nation.
With a sense of history, we can be grateful for today (July 2nd) as much as for Friday the 4th. In that sweltering summer of 1776 when so many crucial decisions for the future of the USA were made, courageous Founders signed the original agreement for the Colonies to form a new nation. That’s right. It was the 2nd (not the 4th of July) when the dye was cast as men like John Hancock, Thomas Jefferson and John Adams had pledged their lives, fortunes and sacred honor for the liberty that comes from God. Their votes boldly declared on July 2, 1776 that the United Colonies “are, and of right ought to be, free and independent States”.
The 4th of July became the official date to give the printer time to prepare the document for those 56 famous signatures to become permanently engraved in the parchment. That’s also the date that our 2nd President, John Adams had proposed for exuberant public displays of celebration with fireworks, music, festivals, parades and other signs of gratitude for God’s gift and guidance in the hazardous journey that Independence from Great Britain demanded of those early Americans.
Next year at this same time, we’ll be at the 250-year mark of this astounding success track that started with the signatures of those 56 Founders and the freedom-loving families, Colonies, churches and communities they represented. Already there is a plan in place for tall ships from 40 nations to join a 250th anniversary procession on the Hudson River while all 50 states have plans for special events in thousands of communities around the nation. And even now, in this 249th year, we share in such a privilege of celebrating the Declaration of Independence. It’s a treasure beyond measure for such a time as this.
Celebrating the God-given liberty of conscience that gave rise to that Declaration also includes defending the lives of the unborn, praying for our nations leaders, engaging in principled debate to secure the blessings of liberty for future generations.
As Nehemiah declared in the midst of a rebuilding and restoring of Israel in their land of promise, we can say today of the USA: “Remember the LORD who is great and awesome and fight for your families, your sons and your daughters and your homes.”
There is indeed a “good fight of faith” for us as well and it includes proclaiming that Jesus is Lord over this beloved nation, and it is for His glory and from His goodness that we ask for God’s abundant blessings on the USA “from sea to shining sea.”
